Coastlands Vineyard sits on a ridge in Occidental, roughly six acres of Pinot Noir at an elevation of 1,000 feet, a few miles from the Bodega Coast. The Pacific is close enough to feel. Fog moves in and out on its own schedule, and the growing season runs long and cool — conditions that push the fruit toward concentration and intensity rather than easy ripeness.
David Cobb and now his son Ross have been farming the same vines planted at the vineyard’s inception. These are not vines that are pushed for production. They are vines that are watched carefully, harvested deliberately, and given the time the site demands.
Williams Selyem first sourced from Coastlands in 1994 — one of the foundational relationships in the winery’s history. The fruit delivers Pinot Noir shaped by an extreme coastal climate, with the kind of depth and structure that only comes from vines in a place this demanding. It is one of the great Sonoma Coast sites.
