Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard

The land that is now Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard has been producing something since the 1870s — first wine grapes, prunes, and walnuts under Charles Hopper, who purchased the property and passed it to his daughter Missouri in 1877, and later as part of the historic Vine Hill Ranch under the Kelham family, who held it from 1960 until selling to Beckstoffer Vineyards in 1996. Today the vineyard is planted to multiple clones of Cabernet Sauvignon, and a permanent land conservation easement placed in 2002 ensures it stays that way.

Located north of Yountville in Oakville AVA, Missouri Hopper sits in one of the Napa Valley’s most consistently productive Cabernet Sauvignon corridors. The combination of deep, well-drained soils and the long, warm Oakville growing season produces fruit with the kind of natural concentration that does not require much engineering in the cellar.

Williams Selyem’s first vintage from Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper was 2019.

There’s a lot of excitement around here about the past, the present, and the future: where we’ve been, and where we’re going.
