Vineyard-Designate Wines, Rarely Repeated
The Fall Release brings single-vineyard wines that are produced in extremely limited quantities and are offered only once a year before selling through. Among them is our Eastside Road Neighbors Pinot Noir, following its recognition with back-to-back Top 10 placements in Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines. It stands alongside an exceptional collection of vineyard-designate Pinot Noirs, Chardonnays, Zinfandels, and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Williams Selyem is a community centered around craftmanship, authenticity, and sharing meaningful experiences. This past year, that showed up in improvements to the Member experience. Our new website is designed to tell the stories behind our vineyards, our growers, and the people who make these wines possible. Our new ordering system is built to make managing the allocation and Wish List more direct. For those visiting the Estate, our refreshed Tasting Salon is more welcoming and reflective of the warmth we hope every guest experiences.
2024
Vintage Summary
The 2024 growing season had an auspicious start with above average rain totals of nearly 36 inches on Westside Road. Early spring was cool and mild with few frost events, and bud-break started on average. With ample moisture in the soil, shoot growth was even with excellent vigor and balance. Cool weather prevailed and flowering was delayed until late May with excellent fruit set and a bountiful crop. As the season progressed, heat units built up and culminated in early July with temperatures of 103°F for several days, one of the warmest early summer periods in the last 15 years. Developing fruit can be very sensitive to heat, so shade cloth was used where possible to shield the grapes from excess heat damage. Critical thinning passes were made throughout the rest of the season to eliminate damaged fruit, avoiding the early season heat effect of anthocyanin degradation and uneven tannin development. Despite the challenges of the season, this vintage was a huge success due to proper thinning and the gentle extraction techniques built into the Williams Selyem methodology. These wines represent both place and vintage, and with patience will fully express themselves.

Elegant Pinot Noir
2024 Allen Vineyard Pinot Noir
Pure essence of Pinot Noir in a glass best describes this wine. Strawberry notes mix with red fruit compote aromas wrapped up with a delicate bouquet garni note. Rising above the fruit notes is the signature perfume of Allen, reminiscent of dried flowers. The location’s well-drained soil on the foothills above Westside Road provides a perfect site to make wine with a quiet power. On the palate, the wine displays terrific verve and the signature mineral streak while showcasing strawberry and raspberry flavors. Refined and elegant in nature, this wine will age for decades. A true classic and benchmark in the Williams Selyem portfolio and in the Russian River Valley.
2024 Williams Selyem Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir
Perfumed with the essence of Pinot Noir, this wine from the Estate on Westside Road immediately lures and captivates the senses. Hints of sandalwood, nutmeg, and other wood spices gently support the red fruit notes. The iron-rich red loamy soils on the hillside above the Russian River allow for perfect ripening of the fine-grained tannins to develop. Flavors of pure red fruit, sassafras, and Oolong tea stain the palate leaving a long impression as it transitions to minerals on the finish. An outstanding wine of refinement that will develop well with time.
Medium-Bodied Pinot Noir
2024 Bucher Vineyard Pinot Noir
Dense and compelling on the nose, notes of raspberry compote combine with aromas of earth and terra cotta. Interlaced with these deep and brooding notes are hints of fern and fresh herbs, while wood spices such as nutmeg offer additional complexity. Creamy and smooth on the palate, the red fruit compote character saturates the palate. Grown on steep hillsides, the concentration of the wine seems to consume the tannins to offer a harmonious, round, and satisfying mouthfeel.
2024 Calegari Vineyard Pinot Noir
Vivid and bright, the red color brings to mind aromas of red raspberry and cranberry. Situated on a rocky hilltop above the Russian River on Eastside Road, the Calegari Vineyard has been producing great wines for decades. Floral undertones are complemented with the brightness of blood orange. The palate mimics the nose with gobs of red fruit framed with zesty acidity. Earl Grey tea-like tannins with a gravelly finish round out this outstanding wine.
2024 Cohn Vineyard Pinot Noir
This stunning site is one of the region’s great terroirs. Situated on a secluded hillside above Westside Road, it was planted in 1970 and enjoys a well-drained rocky, iron-rich soil with cooling breezes. Surrounded by redwood trees and oak trees, you can smell the forest in the glass along with mountain strawberry, cherry, and tangerine. Description hardly gives enough credit, this wine needs to be experienced to be fully appreciated. Layered and complex on the palate, it saturates with round, rich tannin and polish like no other. Give this wine a few years in the cellar and it will achieve the full ethereal quality that great Pinot Noir is known for.
2024 Ferrington Vineyard Pinot Noir
Grenadine and red cherry come to mind at first evaluation. Upon further study, notes of red raspberry and black cherry emerge along with delicate pennyroyal that adds a delightful pop to the nose. Notes of citrus and bergamot add to the list of descriptors of the fascinating and kaleidoscopic aroma. Ferrington is a benchmark wine in the Anderson Valley, made by Burt and Ed since 1991. Owing to the cool nights, the acidity is well preserved. The acid profile is like a laser beam on the palate and allows the red fruit flavors to carry all the way to the end. The palate finishes clean with a tea-like sensation. While delicious today, this wine will benefit from a few more years in the cellar.
2024 Foss Vineyard Pinot Noir
Situated on the eastern side of the Russian River, the climate is conducive to making wines of opulence. A component of the Eastside Road Neighbors, the wine is typified by deep berry aromas with hints of terra cotta and earthiness. Grown on loamy soil that allows for polished tannins and modest acid, the wine is approachable now, which is its charm. Berry fruit flavors abound and perfectly complement the deeper base notes of this wonderful terroir.
2024 Lewis MacGregor Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir
Floral and vibrant on the nose, the wine exudes power and grace. This Estate property on the eastern side of the Russian River was acquired in 2014 when the vines were nearly 20 years old. The additional 10 years have further solidified its stature as a powerhouse wine. Berry bush and notes of pure red raspberry combine with fennel frond to add to the perfume. A burst of red raspberry on the palate melts away into flavors of bergamot and Earl Grey tea. The wine has a compelling concentration that balances with the acidity the site is well-known for.
2024 Savoy Vineyard Pinot Noir
Savoy is situated in the deep end of the Anderson Valley, where it narrows and creates a bottleneck of cool air from the Pacific Ocean. That setting, along with well-drained rocky, hillside soil, results in compelling wines. Savory and brooding, the wine remains light on its feet with a floral and citrus lift. Blue and black fruits mix with anise, fennel, and cardamom. Flavors of black cherry combine with an earthy, sous bois character that gives way to refined tannins that impressively fill the back end of the palate with a long, lingering finish. Don’t miss this outstanding offering from this heritage site.
Full-Bodied Pinot Noir
2024 Eastside Road Neighbors Pinot Noir
A terrific follow up to the string of Wine Spectator Top 10 accolades for the Eastside Road Neighbors bottling. Sourced from Calegari, Foss, and Lewis MacGregor Estate vineyards, the wine is an artful blend from three distinctive terroirs. Berry fruit notes abound, giving way to perfumy flowers, wood spices, and earthy undertones. Wonderfully rich on the entry with berry fruits, the signature robust tannins show the thin, gravelly hilltop terroirs where these grapes grow. Satisfying and robust, the wine showcases classic Russian River Valley traits such as sarsaparilla and citrus.
2024 Hirsch Vineyard Pinot Noir
With notes of kirsch, tangerine, cedar, and wild herbs, the nose is reminiscent of a walk in an alpine forest. One of the grand crus of California, this wine is special with multi-faceted concentrated and compact aromatics. With each swirl of the glass, another layer is revealed. Saturated with dark fruit character on the entry, the tannins build on the palate with a crescendo of minerals. The mineral impression gives way to a saline-like finish that is utterly impressive.
2024 Rochioli Riverblock Vineyard Pinot Noir
The history of the Rochioli family and Williams Selyem is closely tied to the rise of the Russian River Valley as a pre-eminent growing region for Pinot Noir. The vineyard is situated on an ideal location on Westside Road, where the confluence of soil and cool breezes meet the well-drained soils on the bank of the Russian River. The resultant wine is nothing short of spectacular. Dark red fruits and dried plums meld with fresh herbs and fennel to captivate the senses. Robust and resinous on the palate, the flavors of plum mix with Asian spices. Deep and brooding, this wine will require patience in the glass or cellar to reach the great heights that only Rochioli Riverblock can hit.
2024 Precious Mountain Vineyard Pinot Noir
Purple fruits and flowers are immediately apparent on the nose and give way to dried herbs and earthy undertones. This vineyard sits atop the Sonoma Coast on very thin soil, which translates into the tannic nature of this Pinot Noir. The concept of building character through adversity is a reality for this site. Savory flavors are supported with a saturated dark fruit and plum flavor with earthy, dusty notes that showcase the vine struggle. Allow this wine to rest peacefully in the cellar for a number of years before enjoying.
2024 Vista Verde Vineyard Pinot Noir
Explosive nose of plums and Asian spices immediately lures in the senses. The aromatics are further complexed and layered with fresh-cut herbs and signature flinty minerals. Sourced from a wide array of Pinot Noir clones on a steep hillside that is dotted with chunks of limestone, the wine is reminiscent of terroirs in Burgundy. The youthful nature of the tannins melds beautifully with the concentration to offer wonderful balance. Vibrant and fresh, the flavor of plum permeates the palate and gives way to chalky minerals and an Oolong tea-like finish.
2024 Weir Vineyard Pinot Noir
Situated on a rocky hillside with outcroppings of serpentine, Weir produces wine that is both powerful and graceful with a singular style. Mountain strawberry notes combine with hints of grenadine and shiso leaf. Taut and mineral-driven on the palate, the red fruit character gives way to the structure. Weir Vineyard Pinot Noir requires patience to allow for the mineral-laden texture and tannins to harmonize.
Zinfandel
2024 Bacigalupi Vineyard Zinfandel
Zinfandel from the Russian River Valley is unlike any other with the cooling fog effect at night and the warm sunny days allowing for perfect ripening. One of the few old vine Zinfandel vineyards on Westside Road, Bacigalupi showcases fruit bowl aromatics of red, blue, and black fruits. Black pepper, wood spices, and fresh herbs complement the intense fruit character, adding complexity and levity. Berry fruit flavors saturate the palate with richness, while the juicy citrus peel character and acidity keep it from getting bogged down. The delicate addition of new French oak character seamlessly integrates into this wonderfully elegant Zinfandel.
2024 Carlisle Vineyard Zinfandel
Another classic in the making, there is a lot to like about this century-old Zinfandel vineyard. Situated in the epicenter of great, old vineyards, Carlisle Vineyard exhibits wild berry fruits such as huckleberry and mulberry. Owing to some mixed black varieties interplanted amongst the Zinfandel vines, the wine always exhibits a delightful Asian spice, or five-spice that seems to meld into a plum sauce character. Upon entry, the wine completely envelopes the palate with fruit and turns perfumy, alluring the senses. Precise acidity balances out the richness of the wine to offer harmony and elegance.
2024 Saitone Estate Vineyard Zinfandel
Intense blackberry and boysenberry aromas mix with berry bush notes in this old vine offering from our Saitone Estate Vineyard on Olivet Road. This pure expression of Zinfandel was planted over 130 years ago and continues to produce compelling wine with concentration and grace. Surprising floral notes add a wonderful counterpoint to the deep and brooding profile. The wine is mouth-filling with black fruits and structure but seems to manage a charming, elegant disposition. The synergy of the Williams Selyem signature gentle winemaking technique and the cool climate of the region translates to a powerhouse wine with unparalleled concentration and texture.
Chardonnay
2024 Allen Vineyard Chardonnay
The beauty of the Allen Vineyard Chardonnay can best be described as classy and pure. The well-drained soils on Westside Road, along with the typical fog intrusion, allow the grapes to develop a concentration and thick skin that translates into rich and delightfully tannic wine. Notes of green pear and apple are mixed with hints of Brazil nut and a crushed mineral aroma. On the palate, green fruits abound and transition to a dense and tannic richness while the acid keeps the palate focused and lithe.
2024 Lewis MacGregor Estate Vineyard Chardonnay
A powerhouse of a wine, the Lewis MacGregor Estate Vineyard Chardonnay maintains poise and grace. The property is well situated on a rocky hilltop that allows for incredible concentration and structure. Planted to the old Wente selection of Chardonnay, it is typified with small berries that are flavor bombs of spiced pear and quince. On the palate, the wine is focused with juicy acidity that is completely wrapped up in a robust tannic structure that gives way to a crushed mineral finish with excellent persistence. A food-friendly wine to pair with rich seafood or chicken paillard.
2024 Williams Selyem Estate Vineyard Chardonnay
Captivating and alluring, this unique blend of a multitude of clones on the Williams Selyem Estate is unlike any other Chardonnay. The aromatic profile suggests a potpourri of dried flowers, lemon peel, orange peel, musk melon, yellow apple and the list goes on. Owing to the interplanted Chardonnay clones harvested simultaneously, the complexity and layers in this wine are built in the unique characters of clones. Oily and rich on the entry, the coolness of this section of the Estate allows for a methodical ripening of the tannins to offer a smooth texture while providing enough acid balance to give the wine its lithe and airy complexion.
