2019 Beckstoffer Vineyard Georges III Cabernet Sauvignon

Notes of plum and boysenberry jump from the glass with highlights of red fruit aromas.  The underpinning of this wine are earthy and mocha-like elements which are typical for Georges III and Rutherford in general. Hints of aged tobacco and cedar add another layer to this wonderfully complex wine.  Refreshing and focused on the palate, the wine showcases deep refined tannins with black fruit flavors and a citrus lift.  The wine has terrific mid-palate cling and the finish lingers with a loamy, earthy character reminiscent of Mocha Java coffee.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Vineyard Georges III is the first commercial release of a Cabernet Sauvignon from Williams Selyem, and it offers the vibrancy and freshness characteristic of the best 2019s in Napa. Opaque ruby-purple in color, the nose features cassis and red cherry with touches of cedar, chocolate and potpourri. The full-bodied palate has a concentrated core of graphite-laced fruit, a velvety texture and refreshing acidity. It’s plush without being weighty, and it really opens up as it spends time in the glass, suggesting it still needs time in the bottle to unwind.
