Tasting Salon Supervisor
Though Joey grew up in Sonoma County he never had much of an interest in wine until 2015. While working in restaurants and hotels in his late teenage years into his early twenties, Joey was exposed to many varietals of wine. However, he never really enjoyed wine until working at Francis Ford Coppola Winery where he was able to learn about many different varietals. One of the first wines Joey enjoyed was a 2000 Dom Perignon.
When it came to enjoying wine, Joey was drawn to Pinot Noir before any other varietal, besides Sparkling or Champagne. He came across Twomey winery and enjoyed their 2012 Bien Nacido Vineyard Pinot Noir and that kickstarted his interest in Pinot Noir.
Joey was first exposed to Williams Selyem while working for Madrona Manor as a concierge. He had referred many guests to Williams Selyem but had only seen the website and had never visited. One day, while at work, he decided to join “The List.” He waited six months on the waitlist before becoming a member. For his first visit, he was excited to spend his birthday on the Estate property. After that, he began to enjoy everything Williams Selyem-related.
After working two jobs in the Hospitality & Human Resource field and not being satisfied, Joey saw a job posting for Williams Selyem Winery and he applied. He was hired and joined the Hospitality team in March of 2020 in a part-time position as an Estate Concierge, then moved into full-time position as Hospitality Lead in July of 2021.
In his free time, you can find him spending time with family and friends enjoying wines from all over the world.
