2004 Sonoma County Pinot Noir
Winemaker's Notes
The aromas of maraschino cherries, wild berry fruits, sassafras, toffee and rose petal will fill your nose. The round, rich tannins allow this full-bodied wine to illustrate flavors of cherries, blackberry, root beer, fennel and caramel that are common to the 2004 vintage. Most of the fruit is from the Russian River Valley vineyards, and the natural acidity helps the clean, long finish to end with lingering hints of berry pie.

The Vineyards
This blend was Williams Selyem Drake Estate Vineyard located in Guerneville California. The remainder from the Russian River vineyards of Flax and Bucher.
Harvest 2004
A hot spell in March followed by a warm spring influenced an unusually early bloom and budbreak. This precocious start, followed by a growing season of moderate temperatures, resulted in a very early harvest. Although we harvested the grapes two to three weeks earlier than normal, the long season provided ample time for the fruit to reach full maturity and develop extraordinary color and intense flavors. The Pinot Noir harvest season was characterized by warm days coupled with low relative humidity, which helped to concentrate the flavors and aromatics.
