2001 Mistral Vineyard Port
Winemaker's Notes
Harvested in late October from our Estate Mistral Vineyard in southern Santa Clara County, the color is deep and almost an inky red/purple. The aromas display dark fruits, chocolate covered nuts, plums, molasses and coffee. A good balance on the palate with soft tannins, spice, fresh Mission figs, acidity and underlying ripe dark fruits, compliments the long sweet berry finish. This port was fortified from special "port style" spirits, made exclusively for Williams Selyem, by the Alambic stills of Hubert Germain-Robin of Alambic, Inc. in Ukiah, California.

The Vineyard
100% Mistral Vineyard from our Central Coast Estate Vineyards. This wine is a blend of traditional grape varietals predominantly used in making traditional Ports in Portugal. It is fortified with Germain-Robin Alambic "port-style" spirits.
Touriga Nacional: The most important grape varietal used to produce high quality traditional port in Portugal.
Teroldego: This varietal bears a great resemblance to zinfandel with its deep color, brambly blackberriness, vivacious acidity and moderate tannin.
