Winemaker's Notes
"An assorted and seductive wine that brings together the true art of blending, Neighbors is our most complex blend of this vintage. Dark and rich in color, the bouquet of blackberries, cobbler, plums, fennel, clove, butterscotch and toasty oak immediately fill your glass. The palate is layered with flavors of blackberry, cassis, cherry cola, sarsaparilla, crème brûlée, mineral and concentrated grape tannins."

Awards and Reviews
2004 Westside Road Neighbors Pinot Noir 88-90 points Alluring notes of crushed stones, white flowers, raspberries, and cherries emerge from the 2004 Pinot Noir Westside Neighbors. With a dark ruby color, medium body, and a seductive personality, it should drink well for 3-4 years after its release. The Wine Advocate, January 2006
2003 Westside Road Neighbors Pinot Noir 93 points Dark purple-red, very rich and complex, with concentrated wild berry and blackberry fruit flavors that are firm and dense. Impressive for its depth and focus; the flavors pick up a plum and boysenberry note on the finish. Drink now through 2009. Wine Spectator, August 2005

Detailed Wine Information
|
| Harvest Notes: | A hot spell in March, followed by a warm spring, influenced an unusually early bloom and budbreak. This precocious start, followed by a growing season of moderate temperatures, resulted in a very early harvest in 2004. Although we harvested the grapes two to three weeks earlier than normal, the long season provided ample time for the fruit to reach full maturity and develop extraordinary color and intense flavors. The Pinot noir harvest season was characterized by warm days coupled with low relative humidity, which helped to concentrate the flavors and aromatics. |
| Vineyard Notes: | We put aside some of the best grapes from special blocks in the vineyards. Allen, Bacigalupi, Bucher, Flax and Rochioli Riverblock combine with the others to create a concentrated and complex wine that celebrates both the subtle nuances of each individual vineyard site and a greater complexity and depth of flavors. |
| Vintage Notes: | For the Westside Road Neighbors Pinot Noir, Bob selected hand-made French oak barrels, with medium-plus toast to highlight the flavors from each vineyard. This wine was aged for 16 months in Francois Freres French oak barrels and then bottle aged for 5 months. The barrels were 45% new oak and 33% one-year-old and 22% two-year-old.
