Hawk Hill Vineyard

Owner:
Paul & Vicki Michalczyk
Hawk Hill Vineyard was named for the Red Tail and Cooper’s hawks that are seen regularly at the vineyard. The Michalczyks have been growing grapes for Williams Selyem since 1999.

Biography
Vineyard Bio
The wind and coastal influence of that nearby ocean are the defining features the produce the extraordinary Chardonnay. The ocean breezes which warm the land during the winter bring early bud break and help cool the land in the summer. The fruit from Hawk Hill Vineyard is very distinctive, with its tiny grape clusters weighing only a quarter of a pound each.  The berries are small with good skin to juice ratio.  And while there are fewer grapes, there is much more intensity of flavor.

Personal Bio
Paul Michalczyk grew up in a farming community and a farming family. Both his grandfather and father were farmers. Even though he spent much of his professional life doing other things – a law and justice coordinator, the owner of a boat yard and a marine electrical products company – Paul has always loved to grow things, especially grapes, which he believes show grower input more than any other crop.  Paul is married to Vicki.

Philosophy
Wine is first and foremost a food – to be enjoyed as part of a healthy life style. 99% of great grapes is due to understanding your conditions and the commitment to excellence. The other 1% is luck.
